Tools Shed Project Opportunity

Are you – or someone you know – looking for a paid, part-time, worthwhile job for the next six months?

Tools Shed which is part of The Conservation Foundation’s Unlocking Nature programme is looking for a Project Development Lead to join us now.

Tools Shed is a unique and successful project which collects broken and unwanted garden hand-tools and refurbishes them in prisons before being given to schools and community gardens. It provides prisoners with worthwhile activities, new skills and work experience. It’s not rocket science, but it’s a really worthwhile recycling project with a beginning, middle and end which the prisoners like doing and schools and community gardens are always grateful for free tools. The National Lottery has been very supportive for a number of years, but we now need to look elsewhere.

This will involve trusts and foundations who have also supported Tools Shed during the past 15 years, bit could involve new supporters including commercial partners – and that’s where your ideas could play a real part. We need someone creative and bold to develop new fundraising possibilities who will work with, and be supported by, the project’s administrator and project leader.

As a result of COVID-19, tool collection and refurbishment activities have been ‘mothballed’, but fundraising and promotional work continue and we believe this is the ideal opportunity for someone who can bring a new phase to develop the project to join us.

The successful candidate will be home based for a part-time six-month fixed term contract (1 January 2021- 30 June 2021) and receive £1500 per month. Other agreed expenses will be paid, including telephone Depending on results there is potential for the role to be continued and extended to support other Foundation projects including another Unlocking Nature project which is creating orchards in prisons.
