Sharing Eden, published by The Conservation Foundation and Kube Publishing, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a number of possible developments.

Authors’ book signing at Cheltenham Literature Festival

The book, one of our Faith Works projects, is written by David Shreeve, Harfiyah Haleem and Natan Levy and features green teachings from Jews, Christians and Muslims. It is helping garden designers to develop an interfaith garden of healing which we hope will be accepted for Chelsea Flower Show in 2024.

The garden will show how all the main religious traditions record the healing qualities of plants and trees in their ancient texts and traditions. If the Foundation’s application is successful, we will be seeking applications from potential faith sites to provide a permanent home for the garden once the show has finished.

Two of the Foundation’s projects, Gardening Against the Odds and Green Health, have both shown how gardening helps improve physical and mental health.  The Chelsea Flower Show garden and a proposed new award, will enable more examples to be promoted to increase awareness of the opportunities and value that therapeutic gardening can bring to the world of social prescribing. The hope is that different faiths will be inspired to open their green spaces for use by their communities for therapeutic gardening.
